    What is DRIVVE?

    Drivve is the affordable and flexible alternative to owning or financing a car. Get a licensed car with maintenance, breakdown and insurance cover all included for one monthly payment.

    It’s your car on subscription.

    How does DRIVVE compare with alternative car finance?

    DRIVVE is the most cost-effective way to drive.
    Drivve is cheaper than any other car finance/lease option once you factor in the deposit, depreciation and other charges that are included without being tied into a lengthy fixed term contract.

    What if I exceed my free km’s?

    Should you exceed your monthly contracted km’s, you will be charged an excess km rate as stipulated in your individual vehicle schedule.

    What are the costs?

    It’s free to join. All vehicle subscriptions require a refundable deposit and payment of the first months subscription as stipulated in your individual vehicle schedule.

    Am I locked into a contract?

    No, you agree to a subscription period which is flexible and can be amended at any time.

    How can I extend the subscription?

    Just contact our team and we will adjust accordingly. This subscription period is flexible and can be amended at any time.

    Do I own the car at the end of my subscription?

    No. The vehicle remains the property of DRIVVE or its affiliated partners at all times. You are welcome to request a quotation from us, should you wish to purchase the vehicle you DRIVVE.

    What if I want to cancel?

    You may cancel your subscription at any time with a 30 day notice period.

     

    Fines and Tolls

    What if i receive a traffic fine?

    All traffic violations received will be redirected to the nominated driver. The driver will be charged an administration fee per fine redirected. This fee will be included in your credit card transaction for the month.

    What happens to e-toll payments?

    All e-toll’s will be automatically charged to you together with an administration fee. This will be included in your credit card transaction for the month.

     

    Operational Expenses

    Licensing

    All our vehicles are licensed and registered. You will be required to collect the Annual Licence disc from our nominated offices at least one week before the expiry date of the licence disc.

     

    Service & Vehicle Maintenance

    Service & Maintenance

    All routine servicing and maintenance will be covered as part of your rental. Any non-fair wear and tear usage will be billed back to you. This is including but not limited to:

    • Pot hole damage
    • Excessive clutch wear
    • Excessive tyre wear
    • Excessive brake wear

    Fair Wear & Tear

    We accept that in everyday usage there will be the occasional nick or scratch on the vehicle. As such we do allow for Fair Wear and Tear usage on our rental vehicles. We determine Fair Wear and Tear as prescribed in the Fair Wear and Tear Guide produced by the South African Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association.

    Can I go off-road?

    The vehicle is to be used under the conditions as determined in your unique vehicle schedule.

    Can I take the car abroad?

    No. All our vehicles are to be used within the borders of South Africa. We can however issue a Cross-Border letter for the use of our vehicles in neighbouring countries under special circumstances.

     

    Identifications & Verifications

    What documents do you require?

    In order to qualify for a booking, we require:

    • South African ID
    • Proof of Address
    • Bank Statement
    • Cell Phone
    • Email Address

    What checks do you carry out?

    We will carry out an ID check and a document check. We will also check your driving licence and do a soft credit check.

     

    Insurance

    How does insurance work?

    You have standard or super cover (depending on car chosen) and theft waiver which is included as standard.

    The period in which you are covered is linked exactly with your subscription. The cover starts from 00:00am on the morning you pick up the vehicle, up until 11.59pm, the day your subscription ends.

    What’s the excess?

    Accident excesses is dependent on the vehicle that you are subscribing to. See here for specific costs for each car. Windscreen excess is R2500.

    Do I have emergency road side assistance?

    Yes, your vehicle includes emergency roadside assistance and is inclusive of your monthly subscription price.

    Are additional drivers allowed?

    Yes, however there is a nominal fee for additional drivers.

    What should I do if I have an accident or damage the car?

    You should report the incident at your nearest police station within 48 hours and contact us immediately.
    You are responsible for the full replacement value of the vehicle should loss or damage be caused due to wrong and/or illegal actions or omissions.
    Furthermore you are liable for 2 times the standard or super reduced liability amount where

    • The vehicle is parked in/on the street and is stolen
    • 
The vehicle is uneconomical to repair
    • Where the road conditions are unsuitable for driving
    • During week-end rentals
    • Where there was no other vehicle is involved, and the damage is more than R40,000

    What if the accident was not my fault?

    Should you be involved in an accident where the fault was not yours, you are still responsible and liable for the non-waiverable standard or super reduced liability until a third party recovery has been made by Drivve

    Drivve will then reimburse you the liability amount or the pro rata amount once we have received full settlement from the third party.

    The amount reimbursed is determined by previous case law and the offer received and will be split accordingly between you and the third party. Any towing, assessor’s fee, storage and claim handling fee is not refundable, regardless of a successful third party recovery.

    If no factors apply to negate the waivers then Drivve shall settle the third party liability claims to the maximum value of R45 000. You are liable for any amount exceeding this total. This settlement is further limited to direct damage caused to property movable/immovable and excludes consequential loss.

    Is there an Insurance Waiver?

    The Super Theft and Collision waivers limits your liability to the reduced liability amount charged in the event of loss or damage to the vehicle.

    What happens if my car is stolen?

    You are required to contact Drivve immediately in the event of loss or damage and a full report must be made to the nearest Police Station within at least 24 hours where an accident has occurred and 6 hours in the case of loss.

    • A Police Services Case number must be obtained
    • A Claim Form must be completed; these are obtainable from any Pace branch
    • Where the vehicle is not drivable, phone the Pace call centre and an authorised towing company will be appointed to uplift the vehicle
    • Should you wish to appoint an assessor, this is to be done within 72 hours of the accident. Failing which we reserve the right to appoint our own
    • Supplying a replacement vehicle after a damage or loss incident is entirely at our discretion and we reserve our rights accordingly

    What negates my Insurance waiver?

    • Any wrong and/or illegal actions or failure to act which result in damage or loss of the vehicle
    • Driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal substances or any substance that diminishes your capacity
    • 
Unauthorised persons driving the vehicle
    • Unauthorised cross border rentals
    • Not adhering to traffic, road and driving regulations
    • Failing to report the collision or damage to Drivve and the nearest Police Station within 24 hrs of the incident
    • Failure in reporting the loss to Drivve and Police Station within 6 hours in the event of theft
    • Failure to produce the vehicle keys in case of theft unless exceptional circumstances apply
    • Not reporting the exact details of the last known location of the rental vehicle prior to theft
    • Failure to obtain authorisation from Drivve and effect payment for rental extensions
    • Not using the vehicle for its intended purpose
    • Should the waivers be negated Drivve will repudiate any third party claims
    • Personal belongings stolen or lost are not covered

    What else an I liable for?

    You are responsible for the payment of any optional extra like GPS’, baby seats or trailers. Furtmore you are responsible for the correct installation of any accessories rented and as such accepts liability for any damages to such accessories.

     

    Payment

    Is a deposit required?

    Yes, our suppliers request a refundable deposit, which varies depending on the car chosen.

    What if I can’t afford the subscription

    Simply notify us immediately of your circumstances so that we can proceed with cancelling your subscription. You will have to pay a cancellation fee which is 20% of the remaining payments on your subscription, with a minimum charge of one full month. For more detail on cancellations, just get in touch with our team.

    Can I get a VAT invoice?

    Yes, just ask us.

    How does payment work?

    Currently we charge via credit card, EFT or direct debit, paid upfront on a 30 days basis.

    Are there any hidden fees?

    No, what you see is what you get. It just our once-off lifetime joining fee of R1,000 plus your monthly subscription fee.

    How do I get my car?

    You will be notified when your car is ready to collect, alternatively, you can arrange for your car to be delivered to you, for a nominal fee. Contact our team to find out more.

    What if I don’t like my car?

    You can upgrade or downgrade your vehicle according to your needs. Terms and conditions apply.
